HERE IS A SMALL FACT "YOU"RE GOING TO DIE"

SPOILER the book thief is a story narrated shockingly by the death himself, at first I couldn't get the fact that narrator isn't the protagonist but a witness retelling the story of Liesel who started stealing books with the sudden death of her brother while they were travelling to their foster parents' house. she couldn't even read when she stole the first book but it was a challenge that she came over with his dear Papa, who is an accordionist, a painter, a patient foster dad even cleaning his daughter's wet sheets secretly after her nightmares. her father, though ignorant by all terms, taught her how to read and encouraged her with all his heart. It was war time, even death itsef was busy for "the führer", and the neighbourhood they were living was one of the poorest in Germany but Liesel was craving for books rather than food so she started stealing books with her best friend Ruby (who isn't interested in books at all but falls for Liesel, looking for a kiss but couldn't get it). "something about a kiss/ something about a Saumensch/ how many times did she have to say good bye?" the neighbourhood and characters are vividly described so that readers can find themselves in Himmel, playing footbal with kids, making soup with peas and water, crying for a dead son, living in the basement and feeling the threat of getting caught just because of your race or hiding in the basement with the inhabitants of Himmel street when the sirens start. this book contains some brave people, some fanatical people, " a Jewish fist fighter and quite a lot of thievery." max, their Jewish guest, draw some illustrations while he was staying there which were quite impressive&ironic because those are drawn into painted pages of Hitler's book,mein kampf...
